Every night I fall asleep thinking about all the new information I came across that day, and tonight will be no different. Today I watched a show on a woman named Liz who has triplets who cannot see nor hear. The struggle that occurs for Liz, the triplets, Liz's husband, and Liz's other daughter on a daily basis is so astronomical and something I dare not even fathom. And yet here I sit, overwhelmed and frustrated by the assignments and deadlines in my life. The truth is, my life, no matter how drama-filled, hectic, lonely, or discouraging, it will never hold a candle to the lives of the incredible people I saw today. The every day of things, the simple communication needed to get through the day, is nearly impossible. Puts things in perspective.

Another thing I learned from the story was the incredible importance of touch. Of course, when you can't hear or speak, your other senses are heightened. I can see and speak perfectly well, but physical touch has always been my most crucial sense. Much more communication comes from a simple touch on the shoulder than from a thousand spoken words. Maybe that's why I like kisses so much.

Read here for the details of their inspiring story. Maybe you can take a step back and put your struggles in perspective.
